2010: The 21st Century Paradigm

by  Neil Hair

We have come a long way in nine years since the 21st Century began.   In some ways,  The Noughties Decade has seemed like a century in itself,  so much has happened !   Who would have thought the long awaited “New Age” of peace would have brought the tumult of September 11, 2001;  two divisive wars in Iraq and Afghanistan;   an upsurge of terrorism;   frequent tsunamis, quakes and floods;   and to cap it all a global financial crisis,  the likes of which has not been seen since The Great Depression.

At the closure of the 20th Century and 2nd Millennium in 2000,  the world had just experienced an integrating, peace-making year, culminating in “the best ever” Sydney Olympics,   where nations gathered together in harmony.   We survived the Millennium Bug unscathed as Year 2000 dawned, because the world had worked as one.   Efforts for peace by former US President Bill Clinton and former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak almost succeeded in the Middle East in 2000, while in Northern Ireland, the seeds of peace were fruitfully sown.  The potential for a new way forward seemed immense.

Yet, no sooner had the harmonious Sydney Olympics drawn to a close in late September 2000, than the Middle East erupted again !   On November 7th 2000,  a disputed election brought former US President George W. Bush to power on a platform of compassionate conservatism. From that moment peace and harmony in the world began to change inexorably for the worse !

The 21st Century began unremarkably, at least until 9/11,  when the Twin Towers of the World Trade Centre came down in Lower Manhattan !  Year 2001 suddenly became a defining year.  International support for war in Afghanistan was overwhelming, yet the US government of George W. Bush managed to polarise the world by re-defining nations as “with us, or against us” !    International relations lay balanced on a knife edge.  A recent UK inquiry into the contentious war in Iraq revealed that the Bush administration, despite its denials,  was talking of Iraq within two hours of the 9/11 collapse !   Understandably,  world relationships deteriorated,  with major stresses emerging between “New World” and the “Old World” of Europe.

The Noughties Decade has been a challenging period in contemporary history.  The 21st Century has not (yet) brought the peace we hoped for.  Perhaps numerology can contribute to a deeper understanding of events.

Numerology is a simple yet profound science.   The progression of years from 2001 to 2100 describes a Journey,  where Feminine “2” and Masculine “1” are thrust apart by “two zeroes”;   then gradually through the process of time “2” and “1” come closer again in 2010,   a “key frame year” of the 21st Century.   Double zeroes act as a buffer between numbers,  pushing them apart,  pushing Feminine from Masculine;  but with what purpose ?   Detailed observation of The Noughties Decade [Ref: articles published in Living Now!  from 2001-2009], suggests “double zeroes” play a role  similar to Pluto, the mythological ruler of the Underworld.   They “store” a record of the past,  both good and bad,  and without compromise push issues to the surface to be addressed collectively !

The ultimate journey of the 21st Century is one towards fuller integration of Feminine and Masculine by 2100,  when “2” and “1” are reunited in the essence of true relationship;   where harmony  is possible at all levels of humanity.   Perhaps,  in The Noughties Decade,  the human race had first to experience “the separation” to appreciate “the coming together” ?

In The Noughties, we experienced a climactic beginning in 2001 and have arrived at a more harmonious completion in 2010.   The numerological archetypes of Feminine and Masculine  have come closer, each reinforced by a trailing zero.   This configuration of “20” and “10” is infinitely more auspicious than the divisive potential of 2001.  In astrology this translates to a profound and flowing blend of Lunar [Moon = nurturing mother] and Solar [Sun = creative father] energies.   With the supportive and deeply intuitive “20” now co-joined by the bold and courageous “10”,  the gulf of double zeroes in The Noughties has been bridged, and will stimulate the building of positive relationships at all levels;  personal, business, national and international.

2010 has the potential to be a stand-out year for building global relationships,  and signs have already emerged in 2009 of nations coming together, particularly in the new “G20” economic forum  to address fundamental problems in the global financial system and through United Nations to tackle climate change.  Bold new expressions of relationship-building and re-unification are possible, and a new-found equality can emerge for The Feminine and The Masculine.

In practical terms, 2010 will herald a powerful new emphasis on relationship,   team building, marriage, equality for men and women,  equal rights and pay.   Signs of the latter have been seen in late 2009 with a new surge for equality for women in the workplace,  in the creative arts,  in the legal world,   in the corporate world.   More supportiveness and sensitivity (“2”) in leadership (“1”) is also on the cards for 2010,  a trend set in stone in 2009 through necessity, as global leaders supported economies to heal the global financial malaise.   With “2” leading “1” to produce the expressive and fun-loving “3”, we may also expect an explosion of creativity, if not led directly by women then inspired by intuitive leadership,  and possibly even a “baby boom” !

Year 2010 will see the world community working harmoniously again;  new global agreements and treaties being signed;  old relationship wounds from 2001 or before  being healed;  progress made on world peace;  more female representation in the upper echelons of power.  To be true to the 21st Century Paradigm,  leadership in government and business urgently needs an intuitive guiding hand.  When US President Barack Obama was elected on November 4, 2008,  it was like a breath of fresh air to the world,  and Obama quickly set about restoring USA’s integrity and relationships in the world.

A major protagonist of The Noughties,  USA [born: July 4th 1776], has been destined to face significant challenges in relationships,  the least of which is selecting the right partners.  This is shown numerologically in USA’s birth chart as challenge patterns involving “1, 2 and 3”,  triggered eight years ago by Universal Year 2001.   Numerology does not buy US denials of a foreign policy connection to 9/11 !

On many occasions through its relatively short international history,  USA has strategically involved itself with a partner,  who later turned against the nation.   Saddam Hussein in Iraq is but one example,  and the fugitive Osama Bin Laden, mastermind of 9/11, another.   It is exceptional that USA has fought a war in Afghanistan from both sides,  training and equipping insurgents in the 1980s,  only to fight these same insurgents in the current conflict !

2010 will draw USA to examine “old relating patterns” more deeply, to free itself from “strategic relationships” where beliefs and values are mismatched.   There were signs in 2009 that USA has even begun to ask itself whether every nation in the world is ready for a democratic system of government,  where before the Bush administration was on a latter-day crusade to sell democracy come what may to the world !   Positive relationship drivers emerging in 2010, will assist USA and other nations to put the past behind them and raise international relationships to an ideal footing.

The 21st Century Paradigm speaks of The Feminine coming before The Masculine, of “2” coming before “1”.   With the co-joining of Lunar (“2”) and Solar (“1”) symbols in Universal Year 2010,  the corresponding major coincidences of Moon and Sun in astronomical terms,  namely Solar Eclipses,  will be especially significant.   In a Solar Eclipse,  the Moon moves in front of the Sun,  in virtually identical symbolism to “20” coming before “10”.   Each year, there are two Solar Eclipses, and in 2010 the first eclipse on January 15th promises to intensify Australia’s engagement in international affairs and to help Australia develop beneficial international partnerships. For USA, a similarly intense focus will assist the US Government in building revenue and resources for the longer term,  with a particular accent on homes, trade and commerce,  suggesting the US economy may be about to get itself moving again.

Australia [born: Jan 1st 1901] will receive a significant boost from Year 2010,  with material and emotional security enhanced, advances made in international relationships,  and Prime Minister Kevin Rudd’s presence on the global scene strongly reinforced.  USA will continue a long-term period of transformation,  bound to the planet Pluto as it moves slowly through Capricorn, sign of business and government,  and opposes [180 degrees] USA’s homely Cancerian planets.   Neptune the planet of empathy and spirituality,  but also illusion,  will come close to the US Government’s Moon [home of the government], and may promote idealistic and compassionate solutions which require well grounded budgeting to implement !   Pressures will ease on President Obama’s personal numerology chart [born: Aug 4th 1961] in 2010 and should curtail the many surprises he encountered in 2009,  making it easier to focus on domestic issues as well as healing relationships and promoting global peace.

Following the global financial crisis of 2007-2009,   a more robust financial system will no doubt emerge,  better regulated and with the entrepreneurial spirit to drive the world forward.   Year 2010 is saying “Yes we can”,  if people, businesses and nations extend a hand to others in genuine friendship. These are opportunities too good to miss;  a global focus must be kept on bringing the world together,  on climate change, on financial regulation,  on helping the world’s poor and destitute.   In 2010, we have an opportunity to build a more integrated world of United Nations where we are citizens of one world,  not just citizens of our own nations !  2010 will support moves in that direction,  in empathy with the ideals of an Aquarian Age yet to come: Nations acting as friends with their own individual needs for expression,  yet serving the collective needs of the group.

Crisis brings people together,  as nothing else can.   Through financial crisis the world has learned to be more understanding of the needs of people and nations.   Since 2001, global catastrophes whether human-made or created by Mother Nature have forced nations to cooperate and assist each other,  put egos aside, and with heightened sensitivity and supportiveness, stand together against a succession of threats to global well-being.

The Noughties Decade may have been a “clearing house” for old patterns which needed to be excised from our “collective DNA”.   Now we can get down to the serious business of relating,  in a ”coming together of peoples and nations”.   Year 2010 is just a prelude to 2100,  when the Journey of the 21st Century will be complete, and Feminine sensitivity will have re-fashioned the face of Masculine leadership.
